Webdesk, TNI Siliguri, 23rd July, 2017: Siliguri Bharat Nagar’s Karunamoyee Kali Mandir is celebrating its Golden Jubilee of its inception. In the year 1967, 22nd July the Mandir was inaugurated in this place. Bharat Nagar, during that time, was a place of very few households and was a haunted place at night (according to the veterans of this place).
During that time Karunamoyee Kalimandir gave some respite to the residents, as most of them were God fearing during that time especially because of the Kali idol. In the year 2012 the Mandir’s revamping works were started by the committee and from that time many developmental works went on the Mandir i.e. Boundary wall, the Playhouse, the Shikara and the Kalash Gate. The two day Golden Jubilee program was organized by the Mandir Committee. The main attraction of the Golden Jubilee Celebration was a Karunamoyee Mandir Rally organized yesterday from 9 am. The rally traversed entire Bharatnagar and the adjoining areas.
Later in the evening, there was a Grand Maya Yagna performed by the famous Priest of Tarapith i.e. Srijukto Utpal Banerjee. During the program the committee members i.e. the President Mr. Mihir Lahiri, Secretary Mr. Amit Roy, Treasurer Mr. Kumud Sarkar, Vice President Mr. Tapan Chakraborty & Mr. Alok Biswas and other members were present. Today a grand Prasad distribution was organized at the Mandir premises and huge numbers of devotees were present to have the Prasad. The program came to a conclusion with a Shyama Sangeet evening performed by the noted Shyama Sangeet Group from Kharagpur i.e. ‘Kamal Kanti Ghosh O Samprodai’.
